Loyd Auerbach and the Paranormal
Loyd Auerbach is well-known to the public as a leading expert on Ghosts and Psychic Experience. With a Master's degree in Parapsychology, he is Director of the Office of Paranormal Investigations and President of the Forever Family Foundation. He is a professor at Atlantic University and JFK University, and teaches Parapsychology (local and distance) through HCH Institute in Lafayette, California and online courses through the Rhine Education Center. The author of 10 books including The Ghost Detectives’ Guide to Haunted San Francisco, co-authored with the late renowned psychic Annette Martin. In 2014, he released ESP WARS: East and West, covering the psychic spying programs of the US and Soviet Union/Russia, co-authored by Dr. Edwin C. May (who ran the US program) and Dr. Victor Rubel, and available on Amazon.com and other online booksellers. Most recently, he co-authored Self-Publishing: It Ain’t Rocket Science with mystery author Richard Wren
He is on the Board of Directors of the Rhine Research Center, and a member of the Advisory Boards of both the Rhine and the Windbridge Institute, and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Forever Family Foundation. He was a Consulting Editor and columnist for FATE magazine from 1991-2004 and is quite active in the parapsychological community.
He is a professional mentalist and psychic entertainer, performing as Professor Paranormal - a title that follows him into his more serious work. He is a past President of the Psychic Entertainers Association (and currently their annual meeting planner). His knowledge and experience of magic and mentalism, coupled with his background in Parapsychology and broad knowledge of other sciences has led to a number of researchers to consult with him, especially with regard to laboratory controls and where potential for psychic fraud has existed.
A well-received public speaker to conferences and colleges (and occasional corporations -- though these days that's more about chocolate and chocolate tasting), his media resume is impressive. He has appeared in thousands of radio, podcast, and print interviews, and hundreds of national and local TV shows including "ESPN SportsCenter," "The View," "Ghost Adventures," "Larry King Live," "Oprah," "Criss Angel: Mindfreak," "Sightings," "In Search Of" (the more recent version), "the Today Show," "Unsolved Mysteries," and "Late Night with David Letterman." He can be seen frequently on A&E, the History Channel, the Travel Channel, the Discovery Channel, and TLC (as many of his cable network appearances are in eternal reruns).
Loyd Auerbach holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology (though he started out in Astrophysics!) from Northwestern University (1978), and an MS in Parapsychology from John F. Kennedy University (1981).

Loyd Auerbach as Professor Paranormal
Loyd Auerbach is an accomplished Mentalist and Psychic Entertainer, performing as Professor Paranormal for private parties, corporations, at colleges and restaurants. His knowledge and interest in magic began while he was a graduate student, through a course he took intended to introduce the would-be researchers to the methods of phony psychics. He has since taught that same course a number of times. He is a member of the Academy of Magical Arts, has served on the Occult Investigations Committee of the Society of American Magicians, and was 1989 President of Assembly 112 of the Society of American Magicians. He received a credit as a "Creative Consultant" to the special "The Magic of David Copperfield X: The Bermuda Triangle" (CBS 1988).
His work as a magician shifted to Mentalist in late 1991 when he began performing his version of an old idea. Séance Fiction Theater presents a form of what has been called "spirit theater," entertainment in the vein of spiritualist séances. A review of the show appeared in the May, 1992 issue of OMNI Magazine. While he loves his séance show, his main focus is performing for small, intimate groups (dinner parties, and the like) and his one-man show for the corporate, association and college markets, "Professor Paranormal's Psychic Mind Theater!"
Auerbach was President of the Psychic Entertainers Association (PEA) from 2001-2005, and again for a short time in 2006. The PEA is an international organization of psychic entertainers (performers of including mentalism, bizarre magick, hypnotism, cold reading, and allied arts). He still serves as the annual meeting planner.
